Birthwise
Wellington Antenatal Course
Preparing for parenthood? Join our whānau.
We welcome expectant parents wherever you choose to give birth (at home, at the hospital or at a birthing centre) and support and nurture your preferences before becoming a parent.
Formed by parents, for parents over 32 years ago, Birth Wise is proud to provide Wellington whānau with an excellent antenatal programme and a postnatal community of like-minded individuals.
Our holistic approach means we:
-
provide information that helps parents make informed choices for birth and parenting
-
recognise each birth as a unique experience
-
provide parents and caregivers with ongoing support through a Birth Wise – organised reunion, postnatal support, a network of parents, and up-to-date online and library resources.
Our first-time parent course has been running for over 32 years and we are honoured to have worked with over 3,000 expecting Wellington families since 1992.
These 7-week classes provide everything you need to know about birth, babies and becoming parents, while connecting you with other parents-to-be. They include a Birth Wise organised class reunion after the course finishes.
Presented in conjunction with Domino midwives and natural health practitioners, the weekly classes include:
-
holistic preparation for birth
-
keeping birth normal
-
birthing with support
-
life with a newborn
-
breastfeeding
-
becoming parents
-
sharing parenting experiences
For many, the most rewarding part of our course is making connections and forming support groups with other parents in your class. There will be a reunion offered to give you a chance to introduce your newest whānau member whilst sharing your experiences together with your classmates.
Included:
-
One course reunion
-
One-year membership fee (provides access to our library resources)
-
$295 per couple
Places are limited to 13 couples.
TIME: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
LOCATION: Trinity Union Church Hall, Hall Avenue, Newtown.
