Wondering what it's really like to give birth? No two birth stories are the same, which is why we love sharing birth experiences. Here's Natalie's empowering experience...
I had been told about a TENS machine a few times, from my midwife, the antenatal class and some other forums. I wasn't 100% convinced about it, but as I really wanted a natural birth I thought I might give it a try.
Well I am so glad I did it! My contractions were about 10 minutes apart when I started using the machine, and immediately I had pain relief. You have no idea what that boost button meant to me - it made things so much easier - I feel like I got the labour I wanted, and much in part to the TENS machine!
I actually used the machine right until active labour - just kept it on the whole time. My partner Scott also loved it as it gave him something to do. It was me shouting 'boost' and him turning it on during contractions. Seriously I don't think I could have done it without the machine. We had a beautiful drug free labour - and at no point did I shout "I can't do this" as my midwife said I would, as the whole time I really felt I could. It was even better for me than the bath - which was funny as I had assumed I would be in the bath for quite a long time, but as soon as I got in, I felt the pain relief was not as good as the TENS machine so I went back to the birthing sofa with the TENS machine on.
Thank you for providing such a good service as well, baby girl came early, so the quick turnaround service was amazing.
Have already recommended it to my whole antenatal class and will use it again with future pregnancies.
